Promotion of Resource Conservation and Recycling

Waste Intensity Reduction

With our business centered on products including optical cables and cords, optical connectors, optical communication tools, and precision componets, we use not only such resources as iron, aluminum, and copper, but also a large amount of plastic as an insulating material. Waste plastics, scrap metal, waste oil and alkali, and packaging materials(wood chips) are frequently generated. Our activities to reduce waste emissions include yield improvement, the volume reduction of waste oil, and the separation of plastic waste into different categories as well as the conversion of such plastic into valuable resources.

Waste emissions = simple incineration/landfill + heat recovery + material recycling

Recycling Promotion

Recycling rate (%) = (heat recovery + material recycling + valuable resources) / volume of waste
(volume landfilled or simply incinerated + heat recovery + material recycling + valuable resources) × 100

Recycling of Packaging Materials

・We recycle the foam cushioning materials for packaging that are included in the packaging of purchased parts and materials through contracts with vendors that reuse these materials as cushioning materials.
・We recycle the PET packaging materials that are included in the packaging of purchased parts and materials through contracts with vendors that reuse these materials as raw materials.

Recycling of Acrylic Partitions

・Acrylic partitions (for droplet infection prevention) that were no longer needed were recycled through a contract with a company that reuses them as raw materials.
